Shane Dorian has been featured in many surf films and made many TV appearances. He's won Billabong Pro, Rip Curl Pro, and the O'Neill Surf Challange, among others. In 2003 he left the competitive world to focus on big wave surfing. In 2011, the WSL awarded Shane the "Ride of the Year" for paddling into a 57 foot Peahi "Jaws" barrel, at the time it was the biggest wave ever paddled into.
